Eine Frau in einem schmutzig weißem Kleid sitzt auf einem Schaukelpferd vor einer zerissen und zerschundenen, angebrannten Flagge. Die Flagge steckt in einem Haufen von verbranntem Holz sowie Asche und Kohle. Der Boden über dem die Frau reitet, ist von Kohle und Asche bedeckt. Sie summt dabei das Kinderlied „Maikäfer flieg“.
